The police force is concerned that some people who use dating website sites are making a bad decision, which could affect their relationships with their partners.

“There have been reports of people having unwanted sex with young women through these websites,” Chief Superintendent Bill Tresham said.

“What the report tells us is people don’t always know the implications of who they’re meeting or what the consequences are, for their own safety.

“We want to talk to the people that they meet through these sites to make sure they’re aware of what the consequences may be.”

‘It’s not fair’

He said people from rural areas or remote areas that were involved in the community could be vulnerable.

“It’s not fair that a vulnerable young woman is forced into having unprotected sex with someone of a different age and background,” he said.
